The launch of the Uganda Telecom Invitational Inter-University Games which was due this Friday August 31, at Kyambogo University, has been shifted to a later date --- September 7, 2007.
The postponement follows the lack of readiness of both the hosts—Kyambogo University and the visitors--- MUBS, that were supposed to meet each other on the opening day.
According to Mr. Ahmed Kongola, Assistant Sports Tutor Kyambogo, the August date would be too close to call and as such would not offer them a chance to field a better side.
“Our students will just be returning from their holiday. They will not be ready for any games,” Mr. Ahmed Kongola said.
Mr. Hillary Kimbugwe, Sports Tutor MUBS, also noted that the date did not favour them since their students would only be returning for the semester.
“We shall hardly have students to take part. We need another week to prepare,” said Mr. Hillary Kimbugwe.
Following these requests, TES’s Technical Advisor, Mr. Francis Nsimbi adjusted the Games Fixture, by delaying the launch for a week until September 7.
The launch will still be held at Kyambogo University where the hosts will battle it out with MUBS in Pool B beginning at 2:00pm.
All Universities taking part are expected to send representatives.
